Orbit College Sink Magesi FC
Orbit College breathed fresh life into their survival campaign with a gritty 2-1 victory over Magesi FC at the Seshego Stadium on Tuesday, 5 May 2026.
This high-stakes “six-pointer” saw the Mswenko Boys leapfrog their rivals to move out of the automatic relegation zone, climbing into 14th place with 23 points, while Magesi sits on 21.
The match was significantly impacted by severe weather, with the referee suspending play just ten minutes in due to lightning. Following an hour’s delay, Orbit College found their rhythm quickly.
Lucky Mahlatsi broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute, tapping home a precise cross from Kobamelo Setlhodi. The visitors doubled their advantage in the 37th minute when Gomolemo Khoto placed a superb left-footed strike into the bottom corner.
Magesi FC pulled one back just before the break through a glancing Motsie Matima header. Despite a frantic second half where Magesi’s Edmore Chirambadare struck the crossbar, Orbit held firm. “We knew this was a final for us. The boys showed incredible character to hold onto that lead,” said Orbit coach Pogiso Makhoye.
Magesi captain Elvis Chipezeze expressed his frustration but remained defiant, stating the team must “fight until the very last whistle” as they drop into the 15th-place play-off spot.
With the relegation scramble intensifying, Magesi now faces a daunting task against Orlando Pirates this Saturday, where anything less than a point could seal their fate.
